The Good: An immersive film that puts viewers right onto the deck of the HMS Surprise as it hunts the powerful French ship, the Acheron. Visceral action, living & fully-realized characters with outstanding character moments (all thanks to excellent writing and acting), classical music, gorgeous cinematography, an impressive sense of scale, an especially immersive atmosphere, and a story that manages to be both thrilling and intimate at the same time. Cinema at its finest.
The Bad: It's long, and some might find it slow. It's also densely written and can be a little overwhelming... but that's about it. There are also a few genuinely haunting and heartbreaking sequences, so if you're not in the mood to get depressed, this might not be the choice viewing choice.
