Unfortunately, for as much as I loved the "Battle Century" series of Zoids, and all the promise of its concept (worldwide tournament fought by people piloting giant, customizable, semi-sentient robotic animals) Battle Legends failed to live up to expectations, particularly due to the absolutely massive difficulty spike that occurs by the second or third level.
I always found this to be a very regrettable turn of events because I thoroughly adored the atmosphere of the game, especially on its customization screen, which took place within your Zoid's hanger.
As you might have guessed, the music, called "Farm," played a BIG part in my enjoyment of this area of the game. Let's give it a listen:
Why? I have no idea, but these 90s, digital approximations of real-world instruments are extremely charming, and somehow give the song a strange "grit." Like that crunchy guitar and its unrealistic wails (if that's even supposed to be a guitar in the first place.)
And of course, because I'm me, this kind of soundscape hits me with a brick load of nostalgia.
As for the song itself, it's actually got a little bit of complexity and goes through a few great passages before finally looping. I particularly love the harmonies starting at :41.
Overall, it's a cool, catchy song, with a consistent and exciting tone of "doing hard work on your robot" and that's all you could really ask for.
