In other words, John locks himself out of the house. Hijinks ensue.
Clocking in at a little more than 11 minutes total, "Oh No" isn't asking for much of your time... but does it deserve what little it asks for, anyway? In short, yes, but, there are a few foibles along the way.
The Good:
The smooth camerawork and well-paced editing are excellently done (although I would have liked to see more close-ups), and so are the performances.
For what is mostly a one man show, John brings a lot of energy to his role, and manages to capture the manic roller coaster of frenzy that desperately trying to get back into your own house is usually accompanied with.
Later, he's joined by George, a character who may or may not be the key (hehe) to remedying the situation. Together, the frenzied John and amusingly aloof George have a great dynamic, and it shows in their well-paced, natural-feeling dialogue.
The Bad:
Additionally, despite the brisk pace and abbreviated length, I couldn't help but feel that more could have been done with the premise and the current runtime. As it stands, I'd go as far as to say that you could probably cut the total runtime in half, and still end up with same movie.
For example, the entire "all the doors are locked" sequence, while shot and edited very well, feels long due to being fairly redundant. It's a fun collection of scenes, yeah, but we got the picture pretty early on.
Final Thoughts:
In other words, there's a ton of untapped potential here, and I really hope that it eventually gets tapped!
